McCain Institute Remembers President Jimmy Carter

McCain Institute Executive Director Dr. Evelyn Farkas today issued the below statement following the passing of the 39th President of the United States Jimmy Carter:

“President Jimmy Carter was a dedicated family man, philanthropist, humanitarian, and statesman who served his community, country, and the planet with distinction throughout his life. He was the first and only United States Naval Academy graduate elected president, and a patriot who fought for his country, his faith, and his belief in democracy and human rights. As president, he succeeded in bringing Egypt and Israel together for the Camp David Accords and completed negotiations on the SALT II nuclear limitation treaty with the Soviet Union. In his post-presidency, he was an exemplary citizen who worked tirelessly on behalf of his causes, building affordable housing and community through Habitat for Humanity and promoting global human rights through the Carter Center. The McCain Institute has proudly collaborated with the Carter Center on joint pro-democracy efforts that were central to the beliefs of both President Carter and Senator John McCain. Today, we mourn the passing of a true American patriot.”
