McCain Institute Executive Director Dr. Evelyn Farkas today issued the following statement on the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein:
“Dianne Feinstein was a patriot and a public service giant. She blazed a trail into the San Francisco Mayor’s office and the Californian’s seat in the U.S. Senate, becoming the first woman to hold either position.
“Once elected, Feinstein was a tireless fighter for what she believed in, including the release of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence report on the use of torture. The release of this report led Senators Feinstein and McCain to sponsor and pass legislation banning U.S. agencies from using the techniques outlined in the report.
“Senator Feinstein will be dearly missed and our thoughts are with her family and loved ones.”
