Irina Gotisan has served as the spokesperson for President Maia Sandu of Moldova since February 2023. Previously, she held the position of Head of the Press Office at the Moldovan Presidency. Prior to her tenure in the Presidential Administration, Gotisan accumulated extensive experience in international and local organizations. She worked as a Communication expert for the FAO and UNDP offices in Chisinau and coordinated various programs supporting Moldovan mass-media at Internews Moldova and the Independent Journalism Center from Moldova.
Earlier in her career, Irina Gotisan distinguished herself as a journalist, reporting extensively on political matters, including campaigns and elections in the Republic of Moldova. She worked as a reporter for TV Moldova 1, the national public broadcaster, and served as a correspondent at Radio Free Europe in Prague, Czechia. Gotisan holds a firm belief in the crucial role of delivering accurate news and information in a democratic society.
During her fellowship at the McCain Institute, she spent her year at the public relations firm Weber Shandwick, in Boston, investigating development of a political media strategy and how to present information accurately and responsibly in a modern democratic society.
