Mongolia
Gantuya Sainkhuu is a social activist, author, and co-founder of Sainkhuu Iveel San (SIS), a non-profit organization that promotes education to reduce poverty in Mongolia. Her Leadership Action Plan seeks to create more inclusive governance in Mongolia by empowering women at the grassroots level. Since returning to Mongolia in August of 2018, Sainkhuu has empowered 150 local women through training them in leadership and good governance thanks to the support of the Embassy of Lithuania in Mongolia. She has also trained 47 men and women in the principals of character-driven leadership using the Train the Trainer toolkit. Sainkhuu will use her Catalyst Grant to select, train and empower 50 women from marginalized communities across rural Mongolia to run for upcoming 2020 local elections.
