Program Coordinator, Human Rights & Freedom Program
Sarah Reyes is the Program Coordinator of the Human Rights & Freedom Program at the McCain Institute. Sarah graduated in May 2024 with her Master of International Affairs from the Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University. During her time at The Bush School, she concentrated on political-economic trends in the Middle East and North Africa Region, American grand strategy, and Intelligence studies. She was also a member of the Ready Room Editing Team, Deputy Chief Ambassador for the Ambassadors Council, and had the opportunity to travel to Amman, Jordan to further her Arabic language studies.
Sarah graduated Highest Distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2022 with a B.A. in Political Science focusing on Human Rights & Security and Comparative Politics. She also studied national security and Arabic culture and was awarded the Outstanding Political Science Undergraduate Award for her graduating class. To culminate her undergraduate career, Sarah successfully defended an honors thesis on the psychological effects of long-term exposure to extremist violence.
Beyond academics, Sarah enjoys a variety of fitness routines, listening to podcasts while on the run, and visiting different coffee shops and markets around town with friends. Originally from Texas, Sarah loves travelling and exploring new places in her free time.
