Director, Communications
Staci McDermott is the director of communications for the McCain Institute at Arizona State University. In this role, she works closely with senior leadership and the program staff to develop, produce, and deploy communications, events, and media strategies dedicated to advancing the McCain Institute’s mission and brand.
McDermott previously was a brand manager at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., where she developed, executed, and evaluated internal and external communication strategies to engage stakeholders and strengthen the Phoenix Children’s brand. She is a former sports broadcast and print reporter for the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., Larson Newspapers in Sedona, Ariz., and CBS News Colorado in Denver.
McDermott graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media communications and a minor in history from Colorado State University and is currently working towards her master's degree in the studies of global media at the University of Arizona. Raised in Tucson, Ariz., she resides in Alexandria, Va. with her husband and their three-year-old son.
