Tom is currently the deputy head of the US & Canada Department within the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), having been a member of the U.K’s Diplomatic Service since 2013. The first part of his career focused on the UK’s relationship with the EU, having worked for the EU’s institutions in Brussels before joining the FCDO. More recently, his career has focused on international security work, especially in fragile or conflict-affected states. He has been posted to the British Embassies in Somalia and Colombia, the UK’s representation to the EU in Brussels, and the Delegation of the EU to Honduras. He studied Modern Languages at the University of Oxford.
