Shawna Sinnott is an active-duty Marine Corps Officer who has served in operational, staff, policy, and leadership roles across I Marine Expeditionary Force, Special Operations Command, and Headquarters Marine Corps. Her operational deployments have taken her across Afghanistan, the Arabian Gulf, and East Africa. She is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Irregular Warfare Initiative, which is jointly sponsored by West Point’s Modern War Institute and the Empirical Studies of Conflict Project. Shawna holds an A.B. from Harvard College and an MLitt from the University of St Andrews in the study of Terrorism and Political Violence. She is currently a doctoral student in Political Science at Stanford University under the Commandant of the Marine Corps Strategist Program.
