Foreign Service Officer, U.S. State Department
Patrick Baetjer, a foreign service officer, has served in a number of U.S. national security positions domestically and overseas over the course of the last 10 years. His work has centered on areas of conflict in the Middle East and South Asia. Prior to entering government service, Patrick was a research associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC, focusing on the insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan, terrorism and the evolution of modern warfare. He served as a graduate assistant in research at Texas A&M University and studied the utilization of historical precedents in U.S. foreign policy decision-making. Patrick received his master’s degree in international security from the George H.W. Bush School of Government and Public Service and graduated with honors with a B.A. in history from Davidson College. An avid sports enthusiast, he also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children in his free time.
