Head of Operational Policy and Secretariat, Home Office
Chris Selim has worked for the U.K. Home Office for seven years in a variety of positions spanning policy, programme management and crisis management. Throughout these roles, he has worked closely with policy experts and operational practitioners at all levels from across the U.K. government. He has also engaged directly with international allies to share the U.K.’s approach to topical and strategic issues, learn from other countries’ own approaches and collaborate directly with them on specific projects.
In addition, Chris has worked with partners outside of government to bring academic and industry expertise to bear on the long-term challenges faced by the U.K. He retains a particularly strong interest in the opportunities presented by technology and how it can be used to help address the challenges that the U.K. and other governments face in the 21st century.
Prior to joining the civil service, Chris graduated from the University of Bath with a B.A. (Hons) in French and politics, during which he spent a year teaching English in the south of France.
