McCain Institute Applauds Crucial Aid Package for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan

WASHINGTON, D.C (April 25, 2024) – The McCain Institute at Arizona State University applauds Congress’ passage of $95 billion in foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, which was signed into law by President Joe Biden. The $60 billion in aid allocated for Ukraine specifically provides critical assistance to combat Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion.

The McCain Institute also commends the passage of the REPO Act within this aid package, which brings billions of dollars in frozen Russian assets closer to reaching Ukraine as restitution, helping to rebuild the nation.

“Sen. John McCain was a tireless advocate for the Ukrainian people, and he would have been among the strongest proponents of Congress passing this bipartisan foreign aid package. Delivering financial and military assistance to Ukraine and our allies in Israel and Taiwan is critical to defending democracy and U.S. interests around the world,” said McCain Institute Executive Director Dr. Evelyn Farkas.
